A New World Record in Production Quadruped Robots - Field Test of AlphaDog C-Series

Speed Test is one of the most essential performance tests for quadruped robots, especially for general purpose quadruped robots. Because speed test shows its fundamental motion control performance, which is the key difference from wheeled robots and flying robots. Plus, motion control performance is what matters to quadruped robots' daily usage for every user. Unless you are expecting your quadruped robot to take a job in a circus, only then show-off movements may matter that much, otherwise you should look at its walking/running performance. And most other production quadruped robots also can't go beyond 2 m/s. A Chinese company claims its new largest quadruped robot can reach 8 km/h, which equals to 2.22 m/s. But this big robot is ten times more expensive and it's a 100 cm long, 60 kg weight big fellow. This very company also has a similar-sized (60 cm in length) quadruped robot which tops at 1.39 m/s.
